David F. Porfirio is not your typical guitar player . His unique style ranges from heavy metal , progressive rock , jazz fusion , film scores and anything and everything that appeals to him .
Starting first on piano and then at the age of 11 teaching himself the guitar and never looked back from that point.
Playing in and out of cover bands in his teens and twenties Porfirio grew tired of playing other people’s music and had the ambition to create his own sound . He started to develop his own sound inspired by guitarists like Eddie Van Halen , Jeff Beck , Carlos Santana , Robert Fripp , Joe Satriani , Yngwie Malmsteen . Then also being inspired by classical works of J.S. Bach , Richard Wagner , Antonio Vivaldi and jazz artists like John Coltrane , Ornette Coleman , Thelonious Monk and Miles Davis
All of these factors led to the release of his 2018 debut album “ The Lotus “ . The album is a snaphot of the divirsity of the artist ranging from intricate guitar and bass playing , emotional expression and textured soundscapes . There are moments on this album that go from serene to intense.
